On June 18, 2009, at an event on Fountain Square, Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory, Dan Lincoln, President & CEO of the Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau, Maestro Erich Kunzel, Cincinnati Pops Conductor, and Günter Titsch, President of INTERKULTUR, formally announced that Cincinnati USA had been selected to host the 2012 World Choir Games. The announcement followed a competitive bidding process that initially included 20 cities.
The 2012 World Choir Games will be the largest convention booking and the largest international arts event in the history of Cincinnati USA, a community with a long and distinguished performing arts heritage.
The Games are expected to bring 20,000 participants from 70+ countries to Cincinnati USA July 4-14, 2012.
