Renowned artist C.F. Payne to design poster
Cincinnati native
and award-winning illustrator C.F. Payne will create the official poster
for the 2012 World Choir Games. The poster will be

unveiled early next year.
"The
more I learned about this once-in-a-lifetime event, the more I realized
how important it's going to be for the city and the region," Payne
said. "It's going to be a lot of fun to take on this project and capture
the vibrancy and diversity that the World Choir Games will undoubtedly
bring to Cincinnati."
Payne's illustrations have been featured nationally and internationally over the past four decades. He designed one of ArtWorks' 12 regional summer mural projects. "The Singing Mural"
(pictured below) features famous Cincinnatians singing together and was
inspired by Cincinnati's deep musical heritage. It is located on the
south facing exterior wall of the CET building. |

Carey Rennekamp joins 2012 Games team
Carey Rennekamp was named the 2012 World Choir Games Director
of Sponsorship Sales and Fulfillment. Rennekamp will support 2012 Games
Games staff and volunteer leadership to secure and manage corporate
sponsorships, donations, grants and other philanthropic gifts for the
event, which will take place July 4-14, 2012 in Cincinnati USA.
"This

Meet Christine
(Hong Kong, China)
Tell us about yourself, Christine.
I
am librarian in Hong Kong. Performing is my second career. I started
singing as early as kindergarten. Since then, I have performed with many
schools and local choirs in Hong Kong.
Tell us about your current choir, Plasir Ensemble.
Plasir Ensemble
is a female singing group of 11 members. It was founded in 2005 by the
renowned Chinese conductor and tenor Mr. Man Kin-Ping. Currently, the
Ensemble is one of the Top 50 Female Choirs in the Musica Mundi World Ranking list. Music is a universal language. We believe our singing can reach out to people and transcend cultural barriers.
Tell us more about Hong Kong.
Hong Kong is a cosmopolitan city that never sleeps. It is also a city where east meets west.
Hong Kongers are well-known of being hard-working and fast paced. As an
international financial center, most of the people work around the
clock. This is exactly why music is essential for me, to wind down from a
stressful day's work.
Describe a typical weekend. Usually, Plaisir Ensemble has practice every weekend. Before a practice, I love eating at local tea house called Cha Chaan Teng, where I always order milk tea and egg tart. What does the World Choir Games mean to you? The
Games provides choirs from different continents a platform and
communication channel to meet each other. Plaisir Ensemble has had the
honor to participate in the World Choir Games twice (2006 & 2010)
and we hope to be able to participate a third time in Cincinnati USA. |
